Community Development & Entrepreneurship Unit
Entrepreneurs can best benefit their communities when they are supported in starting, running, and expanding their businesses. NLA’s Community Development & Entrepreneurship Unit provides free, culturally competent business law services customized to the needs of small local businesses.
Our Impact
Over the years, NLA’s Community Development and Entrepreneurship Unit has provided free legal services to a variety of small businesses, including home daycare providers, restaurants, beauty salons, auto body shops, and artists.
Our Services
We assist entrepreneurs in critical areas such as:
Selecting and setting up the most suitable form of business entity, including corporations and LLCs
Drafting and reviewing incorporation documents and other governance materials
Drafting and negotiating contracts
Negotiating commercial real estate leases
Securing essential licenses and permits
Advising to ensure compliance with industry regulations
Beyond Legal Services
In addition to our legal expertise, the Community Development and Entrepreneurship Unit serves as a bridge connecting entrepreneurs to vital resources such as financing and technical support. Our program actively collaborates with community organizations and regularly hosts legal education workshops related to launching and sustaining small businesses.
At NLA, our commitment goes beyond providing legal services; we empower entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams and foster economic growth within our communities.
